Chapter Service & Philanthropy
The Delta Upsilon chapter is proud to support our national philanthropy, CASA, and our local chapter of Madison County CASA. Each year, we make it a priority to raise enough money to support at least two CASA Volunteers. Beyond our two signature philanthropy events, we work with Madison County CASA to raise awareness for children in foster care and CASA volunteers. We have partnered with Madison County CASA to write letters asking for support and donations; we have volunteered at fundraising events like the Frostbite 5K and the Superhero 5K; we have attended awareness campaign events like Lunch on the Lawn.
Last spring, we continued our signature event, Sink or Swim: Battleship edition. In this event, organizations register a team of 4 and compete in a university pool to sink their opposing team in a canoe. This event is largely successful because the entire university's participation. Sink or Swim in spring 2016 raised $2,000. We had over 300 students in attendance.
This fall, we will welcome a new event: Theta Throwdown. This event will be a water balloon fight and picnic. The event will center around a large display of water balloons representing the over 600,000 children in foster care in the U.S. Along the way, the water balloon fight participants will learn about the CASA statistics and children impacted by CASA volunteers. We hope you will join us on Saturday, September 17th!

A photo challenge was an added component to this year's Sink or Swim event. Student organizations who took photos with members of our chapter or the nautical letters received an extra point in the pool.
